Each position has specific job requirements which can be found below along with the pay expectations. All positions within the Temple Akiba Camps and TASTY programs require CPR/AED/First Aid training every two years and annual sexual harassment training and mandated reporter training.

Positions available for TASTY programs

TASTY Counselor: Counselors have the direct responsibility of children in their group. Counselors work as part of a unit and are responsible for the creation and implementation of programs. In addition, Counselors are responsible for the physical and emotional safety of the children in their group and all children in the program. Learn more about this role.

Positions available for Akiba Day Camp 2025

Assistant Director: Assists the Day Camp Director with day to day duties as well as offer support to the CIT Supervisor, Unit Heads and counselors. The Assistant Director will help create all camp programing and make sure the staff has all they need in order to be successful. The Assistant director will also have an active role in training staff for the summer. Learn more about this role.

CIT Supervisor: Direct supervisor of the counselors-in-training (CIT). Uses the CIT Handbook and other helpful resources to create and implement all necessary trainings into an effective and complete schedule for each level of trainee. Communicates directly to the Day Camp Director for guidance in creating and implementing trainings. Learn more about this role.

Unit Head: An individual who leads a group of counselors who are tasked with programming and supervising a certain age group of campers. The Unit Head provides a fun and productive experience with safety and fun always at the top of mind. Learn more about this role.

Counselor: Counselors have direct responsibility of children in their group. Counselors work as part of a unit and are responsible for the creation and implantation of programs. In addition, Counselors are responsible for the physical and emotional safety of the campers in their group and all campers at Day Camp. Learn more about this role.

Positions available for Akiba Resident Camp 2025

Program Director: Creates master schedule and oversees all programming created and implemented at Akiba Resident Camp. Modifies programs for age appropriateness, safety and capacity. Learn more about this role.

Staff Development and Leadership Director: Oversees the counselor-in-training (CIT) and Jr. Staff program as well as ensures that all Akiba Resident Camp staff are well trained and qualified to supervise children. Learn more about this role.

Logistics & Communications Coordinator: Ensures all daily and emergent communications go out to families of campers. Assists in the daily logistics of the Camp program including location sharing, supply needs, site maintenance and in and outgoing mail. Learn more about this role.

Senior CIT Director: Provides direct supervision to the Counselors-in-Training and Jr. Staff. Uses the CIT Handbook and other helpful resources to create and implement all necessary trainings into an effective and complete schedule for each level of trainee. Learn more about this role.

Junior CIT Director: Provides direct supervision to the Counselors-in-Training and Jr. Staff. The Junior CIT Director defers to the Senior CIT Director in how to utilize the Temple Akiba’s Resident Camp Staff Training Handbook and coordinates programs to teach skills in the areas of personal growth, teamwork, communication, responsibility, camper development, program creation and implementation. Staff and Leadership Development Assistant: Provides direct supervision to the Counselors-in-Training and Jr. Staff. The Staff and Leadership Development Assistant also works with the Staff Development and Leadership Director to address staff development needs of hired staff during Akiba Resident Camp. Utilizes the Staff Training Handbook and coordinating programs to teach a variety of skills in the areas of personal growth, teamwork, communication, responsibility, camper development, program creation and implementation, etc. Learn more about this role.

Medical Personnel: An individual who is certified to treat campers and staff for general medical needs, medication collection and distribution as well as record keeping. At least one medical staff will be on-site at all times.

Mental Health Professional: An individual who is certified to treat the social-emotional well-being of our campers and staff. Tasks will include mental health support, medical support, and parent communication.

Unit Head: An individual or co-team who work together to lead a group of counselors who are tasked with programming and supervising a certain age group of campers. The Unit Head/s provide a fun and productive experience with safety and fun always at the top of mind. Learn more about this role.

Cabin Staff: Counselors who directly supervise and attend to all the needs of campers in a cabin. Cabin staff sleep in cabins with campers and are always placed in a team of 2 or more staff in order to comply with ratio and liability concerns. Learn more about this role.

Unit Assistants: Staff who are assigned to a Unit and responsible for supporting the campers and staff in that Unit with logistical, programming, and supervision needs. Learn more about this role.

Childcare Staff: An individual or individuals hired to supervise and provide activities for the children of the Directors. Childcare staff need to be in constant communication with the Directors and need to follow the master schedule to avoid interference with other Camp activities. Learn more about this role.
