6th and 7th Grade

As our 6th and 7th graders begin preparing for their transition to Jewish adulthood and approaching Bar/Bat Mitzvah, their religious school program begins to shift as well. On Monday evenings, 7th grade students will meet in conjunction with our high school program.

Master Prayer Class and B’nai Mitzvah Preparation

Student who have already become Bar/Bat Mitzvah or students who test out of this component do not have to attend Master Prayer classes.

7th Grade Class sessions

Each seventh grade student will experience three areas of study over the course of the year. The units of study will be project based thematic units:

  1. Jewish Identity – Seventh grade is often a time of searching for self understanding. Our seventh grade program is designed to create opportunities for our students to develop a better understanding of their Jewish identity through developing connections between Jewish text and their surrounding world as well as exploring other religions.

  2. Living Jewish – An opportunity for students to explore what it means to live a Jewish life post B’nai Mitzvah

  3. Holocaust – An in-depth study of the Holocaust that will explore the nature of the perpetrators, the victims and the bystanders. A visit to one of the Holocaust museums will be included.
