A BEACON OF LIGHT, A HAVEN OF GOODNESS, AN AMBASSADOR OF SHALOM
Since 1952, when four Culver City families envisioned a progressive Jewish congregation, Temple Akiba has served the community with heart and spirit. Today, with over 320 families, our many programs are a testament to our community’s engagement with Judaism. Whether you join us for Shabbat, or attend one of our many diverse events, we extend our hearts and souls. Our mission is to honor the traditions that have been sacred to this congregation as we move into an exciting future!

We provide services and programs designed to fulfill every need. These include our ever expanding Nursery and Religious Schools, Summer Day and Resident Camps, Havurot, Adult Education programs, Family and Adult Retreats, Family and Tot Shabbats, uplifting High Holy Day services and so much more! Our Temple Sisterhood creates multiple events throughout the year to spark your interest with topics that include social action, art, politics, comedy and festivals.

Our rabbi, Zachary R. Shapiro, embraces the congregation and the community with open arms. Through his leadership and passion we have moved into the 21st century with ever expanding programs, musical services, world re-known lecturers and exceptional social and family events.

GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
Donations to our congregation can be envisioned through various means and help strengthen our Temple and its wonderful programs and activities.

SHABBAT SERVICES
Please join us for Shabbat services every Friday evening. Our wonderful Shabbat Shira Family service with Birthday & Anniversary blessings is on the first Friday of the month.

Our famous Kabbalat Shabbat service is filled with guitars, drums, a dobro, a giant harp, music and soul. This monthly "Shabbat in the round" begins at 7:30pm. We also provide babysitting for those families with young children who would still like to come to this service.

For a full listing of ALL of our Shabbat services, visit our Online Temple Calendar of Events.
